Behind the scenes, a huge amount of work goes into putting together an Endeavour Foundation Prize Home. From choosing an amazing location to planning the interior decoration, furnishing and landscaping, our aim is to create something that is truly special and worthy of its million-dollar price tag.
Our $1.1 million Christmas Prize Home in the Sunshine Coast hinterland is no exception. A gorgeous eco-escape at Valdora, just 12 minutes from the surf beaches of Coolum, it really is the complete package.
Nestled in the foothills of Mount Ninderry, the architecturally-designed home makes the most of the natural setting, with a huge hardwood timber deck wrapping around the rear of the home. Our team has transformed this amazing deck into the ultimate entertaining space, complete with outdoor kitchen.
Inside, the home has been thoroughly kitted out with stunning designer furniture, creating the perfect place to escape for the holidays, or for good. It’s easy to overlook that if you’re the winner of this beautiful home, when you receive the keys, you’ll walk into your new home exactly as it is: filled with stunning designer furniture and accessories from the elegant sofas in the living room right down to the towels in the bathroom. It will all be yours to enjoy.
Creating a ‘dream home’ like our beautiful eco-escape at Valdora involves months of hard work from our Endeavour Prize Home team. The theming and interior design of the home is a big part of creating that dream winner’s package. To give you an insight into the design of our Christmas Prize Home, we’ve spoken to interior designer, Carole Hastie, from Interior Motives, about the vision she brought to life in this very special home.
Inspired by the beautiful natural surrounds, Carole set about creating a contemporary interior with a “relaxed and earthy” feel.
“It is set amongst stunning rolling hills and green fields, so we worked with earth and autumn tones to reflect the natural beauty outside,” she said.
When Carole first approaches the design, she weighs up the home from every angle to create a look that brings out the best in the home.
“We consider the aspect of the home, where it sits on the property, does it face north or south?
“We also take into account the architectural style of the home, the light sources and also the dimensions of the rooms.
“Do we need to add light? Do we need to feature specific walls? Do we keep the eye inside or let it harmonize with outside as well?” she said.
The result is an interior that is just as beautiful as its natural setting. The elegant, modern furnishings have a relaxed style that give you that ‘holiday’ vibe, every day.
In the living area, Carole has chosen a timber and rattan entertainment unit and cream contemporary lounges from Globe West, co-ordinated with two cane occasional chairs from Wisteria Design. A modern circular ottoman completes the look, inviting you to put your feet up and relax. Ok, if we have to.
Across in the dining room, Carole has teamed a contemporary timber and glass dining table with fully upholstered dining chairs that have been chosen for their form and their comfort. Comfortable dining chairs are an absolute must if you plan on entertaining and these ones more than tick the box. They’re the kind of chairs that make you want to stay and chat all night. In a setting like this, who wouldn’t want to?
In the heart of the home, the kitchen, the earthy the colour palette takes on a modern edge with bronze metallic-finish cabinetry adding a luxe feel to the space. Black ‘on-trend’ appliances are integrated into the streamlined, minimalist design.
With loads of storage space overhead and under-bench, there’s plenty of room to hide everything away so that you can keep surfaces clean and minimal. The inclusion of under-bench drawers really maximises storage and makes for easy, frustration-free everyday use. Gone are the days of crawling into the back of the cupboard to find that missing Tupperware lid. With just the light pull of an integrated handle, it’s all there at your fingertips.
The standout feature of the kitchen is the huge island bench finished with a rounded, black marble benchtop. Imagine gathering here for wine and cheese with family and friends while you share in the cooking.
Botanical artworks are featured throughout the home – yet another way of connecting the interior with the nature outside. In the bedrooms, these beautiful floral works have inspired the colour palette of the room. In the master, a pair of stunning protea prints have directed a theme of shell pink and forest green on a background of natural hues. The upholstered bedhead combined with the timber and rattan bedroom suite adds a sense of raffles luxury.
The designer styling isn’t only reserved for inside. Just as modern living flows seamlessly from indoors to out, so too does the design. Carole has taken the relaxed and earthy look she created inside out onto the deck with cooling, light neutral colours and natural textures. A teak table surrounded by bamboo director’s chairs is the centrepiece and designed to be a hub for entertaining. The outdoor space is made more versatile with an additional casual setting providing even more seating for guests.
What modern ‘dream home’ would be without an outdoor kitchen? It really is a must-have addition to the perfect outdoor entertaining area. In our Christmas Prize Home, our team has thoughtfully included a built-in Weber BBQ and Grandfire single door alfresco fridge to keep the drinks cold. Imagine giving this a workout this summer. You’ll never want to cook inside ever again.
And if that’s not enough, to finish off this incredible outdoor space, mounted high up on the wall is a 138cm ultra-high-definition Linden LED TV, all wired into sound system speakers in the ceiling.
Out from the amazing entertaining area, the sparkling inground pool and freshly landscaped garden complete the picture. It really is the stuff dreams are made of and by Christmas it could be yours!

Our wonderful interior designer Carole Hastie, of Interior Motives, offers up a few gems for planning and styling beautiful rooms and outdoor spaces that simply ‘work’. Here are a few ways you can give your home the Prize Home touch:
KITCHEN – Keep work spaces balanced, with not too much walking distance in between the fridge, sink and cooktop.
LIVING ROOM – Create a conversation area and make sure the room is balanced with the furniture layout.
BATHROOM – Carole says: “Install good lighting and have a set of really nice towels. Make sure it smells nice with a room diffuser.”
OUTDOOR AREA/DECK – Make your outdoor living area really comfortable and cater for as many people as you can – in Queensland we spend a lot of time outside living.
“Keep it to a relaxed family feel – it’s the time of year where everyone gets together to celebrate. It shouldn’t be too formal – more whimsical and informal. For this home, we used tones of Green and Gold with pops of Red.”
