There’s no doubt about it. Winning, and ultimately owning, a multi-million-dollar Prize Home is an incredible, life-changing, and somewhat surreal experience.
For many winners, the time between getting the call, and receiving the keys, is a blur of joy, anticipation, and shocked disbelief.
So, to help prepare you for the day when you may indeed get that life-changing call, we’ve put together a step-by-step ‘Prize Home Winner’s Guide’ so that you know exactly what’s involved in becoming the owner of your very own Prize Home. You’re welcome.
The much-anticipated Prize Home draw happens one week after ticket sales for the lottery close. At around 11am on Draw Day the excitement at Endeavour Foundation’s Support Centre peaks when the draw is conducted by our Head of Lotteries, Kirsty, and supported by our Lotteries team. To ensure that everything is above board and meets the legal requirements and regulations of a lottery, both an independent auditor as well as our internal auditor are on hand to witness the draw.
For those keen to watch from home, the draw is livestreamed on the Endeavour Foundation Lotteries Facebook page. Join the livestream, and you may just be lucky enough to see your number appear in the barrel.
As soon as the formalities are over, if you’re the owner of the winning ticket number, you’ll receive a call from Kirsty to give you the good news. Having a sturdy sit on and a box of tissues handy is always a good idea.
While you’re on the phone, the busy bees back at Endeavour Foundation will upload the winner’s initials and suburb to the Endeavour Foundation Lotteries website. Jump online and if you see your details right there on the screen, you can definitely let the celebrations begin. When you’ve finished doing your happy dancing, make sure to check your email because you will have also received an email from Kirsty confirming your win and advising what will happen next.
Who would be the first person you’d tell if you won? This is your chance to crack open a bottle of bubbly and share the excitement with the people you love.
From here on, it’s VIP treatment all the way from our Production Manager, Will, and the Lotteries team. Will looks after all of our Prize Home winners throughout the process from winning to receiving the keys, including the transfer of the property into your name. He’s there to answer any questions you may have and also organise the day and time you’d like to take the keys to your new, mortgage-free home.
This is the day you’ve been waiting for. It will suddenly all feel very real as you step over the threshold of your new home for the very first time.
On Handover Day you’ll be greeted at the Prize Home with a warm welcome from the Endeavour Foundation Lotteries team, including Kirsty and Will, as well as Joel, our Prize Home Facilities Co-ordinator, who makes sure everything at the house is ship shape and ready to basically just move in and enjoy.
The team will walk you through the home, help with the paperwork to transfer the property into your name, and most importantly, give you the keys to your new home.
If you’d like to, you’ll also have the opportunity to be interviewed and share the story of your win with our valued supporters. It’s a great way to encourage even more people to support Endeavour Foundation and imagine what’s possible.
You’re more than welcome to bring family and friends along to the handover so that you can share this special and lifechanging moment with them.
Then once the Lotteries team leave, the home is yours to enjoy. Jump in the pool, get the party started, or simply kick back and relax with the incredible feeling of knowing everything you see around you is now all yours.
From the linen on the beds and fresh towels in the bathroom, to the kitchen stocked with staples and goodies, to all the furniture and garden gadgets, you’ll have everything you need to enjoy your first night in your new home.
Once all the paperwork is signed on handover day, the home is yours to move into or stay in as much as you like. However, if you’re considering selling or renting it out, you’ll need to wait until the property title is transferred into your name. This can take anything from a few weeks to a few months depending on how busy Titles Queensland is at the time. But sometimes having some time to mull over your options can be a good thing. One thing is for certain, whichever path you choose, your life will never be the same.
We hear time and time again that one of the most incredible moments for our Prize Home winners is waking up in their new home for the very first time. It really is one of those pinch yourself moments and is just the beginning of an exciting new chapter ahead.
Now, while we might have put this last, but buying a ticket really is the first step toward owning your very own Lotteries Prize Home. In fact, when you think about it, it’s the most fundamental part.
It’s safe to say that no Prize Home winner has ever regretted buying a ticket. But why stop at one? The more tickets you buy the cheaper each ticket gets and the better your odds of winning. So, grab yourself a bundle and start marking off the calendar until the big draw day.
It's really simple to buy your tickets, either online or contact us over the phone, better yet, get them face-to-face at the Prize Home. That way you can not only get to meet our friendly Prize Home Support team, you also get to explore every part of the home, which may one day, just be your very own, mortgage-free home (fingers crossed).
