Angular, refined features, high ceilings, and a spacious, flowing floorplan made the perfect bones for Endeavour Foundation’s Prize Home design team to work their magic on the Gold Coast. With a dramatic colour palette and some shimmering highlights, the team have pulled off the ultimate ‘glow up’ on our glamorous $1.8 million Prize Home in the prestigious Riverstone Crossing Estate in Maudsland.
Sitting alongside a never-to-be-built-out reserve, this head-turning, split-level home, is a masterclass in how to do luxury with just the right amount of glam.
The home’s sophisticated monochromatic colour-scheme, softened with warm furnishings, strikes the perfect balance between standing out and nestling in. Finished off with a glimmer of gold here, and a sparkling chandelier there, and you have a vision of hotel-style indulgence.
But you’ll be pleased to know it’s not all about looks for our Prize Home team. Explore a little deeper and you discover the true beauty of this place extends well below what you see on the surface. From the ducted air-conditioning and butler’s pantry (with built-in wine cooler), to the heated, saltwater pool and automatic irrigation system, no detail has been overlooked. And when it all comes down to it, those little creature comforts are what a life of luxury is all about.
If you’re partial to a bit of glamour and want to re-create the look our team have created here, here are our top tips for upping your glam game:
Add interest and elegance to your space as well as a sense of comfort and warmth with luxurious fabrics and finishes. Think tactile velvet, soft suede, silky satin and plush carpets. For Prize Home glamour, the team opted for quilted velvet occasional chairs in the living area and oh-so-soft suede dining chairs to encourage dinner guests to linger longer.
Nothing whispers ‘opulence’ more than a subtle glimmer of gold. While you don’t have to go full ‘Palazzo Versace’, sprinkling a few gold accents throughout your home can really take things up a notch. It could be as simple as choosing an elegant chair with gold-dipped legs or swapping out standard cabinetry handles for their gold-plated counterparts. But remember, less is definitely more, so sprinkle your gold dust sparingly.
Whether it be a trio of drop pendant light or an eye-catching contemporary chandelier, the lighting you choose is one of the easiest ways to make a design statement in your home. Even just adding an elegant floor lamp to your living space can help to create the right mood.
Let’s face it, black never goes out of style. But while most of us wouldn’t think twice about having a few black accents in our homes, it takes a little more bravery to really build your design aesthetic around the shade of black. However, take the plunge and do it right, and the results can be dramatic. In our Prize Home, floor-to-ceiling black satin curtains add depth to the living areas, but it’s the ensuite that really embraces the noir chic look, tiled in wall-to-wall black, literally. Sophisticated glam at its finest.
It’s just not possible to do Gold Coast glam without at least a palm or two. And our Prize Home is no exception. With striking date palms framing the entrance and lush indoor varieties inside, the look is the epitome of glam in the sub-tropics. And very GC. To recreate the style at your place, make sure you choose palm species that are suited to the indoors. Not all palms are created equal. Some varieties that do well inside include the Parlour Palm, the Kentia Palm and the Lady Palm.
